Heat Press Vinyl Video Tutorial

I have had this YouTube video site bookmarked, and it helped a lot when I was starting. Although they use a heat press, a regular iron can work as well. See my vinyl basics in the right hand column for settings and times I recommend.

Posting Multiple Pictures

Many people have wondered how to post multiple pictures in one message board post. You can do it using Photobucket, but honestly I think it is a bit complicated for the average person. I have been working on a simple approach using programs you already have. Try this.
1.Open Microsoft Word. Click Insert/Picture/From File. Find the picture you want to post. Once you find your picture and double click it, it will show up in word.
2. Next right click on your picture and click Format Picture.
3. Next click on the tab Layout and click on the box In Front of Text. You now have the ability to resize by pulling in or extending the corner of the picture and you can drag and drop it anywhere on the page you want.
Do steps 1-3 for each picture you want. Once all of your pictures are on the page, formatted, and where you want them,
4. click your CTRL button on your keyboard and click each picture without releasing the CTRL button, click the letter "C" on your keyboard, and you have copied all of your pictures together.
5. Now open your PaintPad function in your computer. Usually at START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/PAINT. Once this is open click Edit /Paste, and all of your pictures will show up.
6.Click file/Save as - name your file and make sure the file type is .jpg. Now you have a single picture of your multiple pictures and you can post it. As always you may have to resize your picture. I use VSO Image Resizer, a free downloadable program and resize to 500 x 768 px.
Personally I do use the Photobucket method, but it involves opening many windows, flipping back and forth between screens and lots of copying and pasting. Try this method, it might work for you.
Here is the link to the YouTube Video on the Photobucket method if you want to try that

Got Milk?

I can see these platters filled with mounds of cookies, cupcakes or brownies. I found these great turkey sized platters for only $1.50 each and bought a whole stack of them. I am really happy with the way they came out. I am going to donate them to my church for their Harvest Fair, for them to sell. Click on the picture for a bigger view.

Layering Iron On Vinyl

Yes, you can layer the iron on vinyl.... Make sure the first layer is completely cooled before layering (I'd wait at least 15-20 minutes or more). The second layer takes less pressing time. Here's one I actually did with 3 layers-- black bottom, yellow on top and black on top of that. Once all the layers are ironed on, run an iron quickly over all of the layers, it melts them together (just 5 seconds or so). Different vinyls handle this process differently, so practice first. It is a must that you use parchment paper over the whole design as well.

A Three Hour Tour...

Here's the latest addition to the bevy of T-shirts I've made this summer. (made with the iron on vinyl of course) Pics show front and back of shirt. The back is made with the Life's a Beach Cart for the font. My son just started watching Gilligan's Island. It brings back great tv memories for me. It just makes you want to sing that theme song huh? What Gilligan's Island character are you most like?

An extra 12 inches...

Guess what Baby Bug owners, you can double the size of your mat to 6 x 24. Here's how. Thanks to KutnPrint from the MB for inspiration here.

I took 2 old 6x12 mats. Cut the leader green inch off one side of each mat and then tape them together with clear packing tape. Make sure the mats do not overlap, they should just snugly but up against each other.

Oh yeah, this only works in SCAL - change your mat size to 12 x 24 in SCAL, but you only use the top 6x24 inches on the screen when you design. Then just cut as normal.

Here are pictures of my altered mat and the vinyl I cut on it!
